Over the past decade, Barry and his brother Mark have acquired a number of development sites which form an interesting land bank. They are now watching the recovery in the market and starting to get to work on it.

3400 W. Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles.

With Mark-Michael Developments (USA), plans are underway for a five-storey development at 3400 W. Sunset Blvd in LA – a great address by any world standard! This scheme is designed by award winning Wade Killefer of Killefer Flamming architects.

The project required the acquisition of three adjoining ownerships along the Micheltorena Steps with continued main frontage onto Sunset Boulevard. These consisted of a vacant lot, a single dwelling and an auctioneer’s office with surrounding parking lots. The combined area only allowed sufficient scope for the development of the residential scheme.

Barry, Mark and their professional team co-operated proactively with the architectural committee of the Silverlake neighborhood council in the pre-approval stages. After presenting to a public meeting in the neighborhood, they secured broad support for their plans. This support helped them secure the zoning variances which required City Council approval. Subsequently they secured LA City Council approval for the overall scheme.

The project plans for 35 loft style apartments, has a roof garden with infinity pool, and social and recreational areas, all framed by LA’s famous downtown skyline.

Lake Elsinore, California.

This seven acre site on beautiful Lake Elsinore, California has residential zoning. The low density zoning for the site allows for a development of 12 generous family homes, which they plan to develop in a joint venture with brother Mark’s US building company Mark-Michael Developments (USA).

Jurupa, Riverside County, California.

Barry and Mark-Michael Developments plan to develop 24 family homes on this site close to the new high school, town centre and well served with local amenities.
